Varsity
I'm officially a medical student *squeals* :)
I got home today just in time for Iftar. You have no idea how much I've missed mama's cooking. I just cannot survive on instant noodles alone. I need real food, for goodness sake.
So anyway, last week's orientation was quite okay, and I have to say that it was so much better than last year's orientation at UiTM. The seniors were helpful, kind and informative. They're very sophisticated, and the university doesn't allow students to dictate others so it was beneficial for all. Obviously, the seniors during the orientation at UiTM enjoyed bullying us and spitting overemotional, sappy stories to get us to apologize for our 'uncivilised' behaviour. I'm virtually saluting you with my middle finger UiTM seniors, because really, you didn't help at all.
The registration day went along very quickly, and I had a companion with me. Farhan Zafira was Shazana's classmate back in UiTM so it was nice to see a familiar face. All was well, until the part where we had to register for the accommodation. I nervously asked the staff member whether we could pick our roommates, and she strictly said "No, the faculty has decided for you already." to avoid difficulties. Shizznit, right? Farhan and I planned to be roommates, because we thought it would be easy, since we could pick our roommates in UiTM. I think both of us had forgotten for a little while that we weren't in the same university as we were last year anymore.
We got a bit upset but that was only for a little while. After the registration and welcome speeches by the deans and other VIPs, we took a short visit to our new place, the CUCMS Varsity Lodge, called MutiaraVille. To be honest, I expected something better, (I found out later that the place is indeed comfortable except for some minor problems, which I'm going to state later in this post lol) but I couldn't be choosy when I actually have a place to stay. The whole environment was pretty bad though, because the whole complex was still a construction site; dusts were filling the whole area from every nook and cranny. I was surprised that I didn't develop any asthma attacks while I was there. We have all cleaned up our apartment since then, but the weird thing is that every time we go back to our rooms, our eyes would sting from the dust that was collected in there. We're not really sure what actually causes our eyes to sting, but I can be sure that everyone experienced this. The house is constantly dirty from the construction outside, so we have to mop the floor more often than usual. The first thing I noticed was that there weren't any mirrors provided in the house. There was none in the bathrooms, and none in the rooms either. ASDFGHJKL. Not having mirrors in the bathroom is like not having bread to go with butter.
Thankfully, my roommate is my classmate back in foundation, Aina, and I consider myself very lucky. The first class (general anatomy) only started earlier today, because this whole week we had another orientation, regarding the academic system in CUCMS. It was deadly boring. Anyway, my housemates and I have bonded during the days that we've known each other and I must say that I would probably be close to them soon enough. There's Fatihah and what amazes me about her is her ability to drive a manual car like a pro. Seriously, she's awesome. Her roommate is Nada, and she's a self-proclaimed mad woman. Haha. Miru's my first Indian housemate ever, and she's always making me laugh with her funny antics. Tharani is her roommate and she's a friendly girl. Wong's the only one without a roommate, but I think she's fine with that.
I'm ready for this, whether I know it or not. This is gonna be...fun?
Eid is coming soon! Time sure flies by faster than lightning in this case. Ramadhan will be over very soon, and I'll miss it dearly. Nevertheless, I can't wait for Eid and all the FOOD that'll be prepared during the whole week :D
xoxo,
Zafirah.
