How HIV annihilates a person’s life.

Jake and Riley, a beautiful and passionate couple, are ready to start a new life together. Jake, an affable young lad, is excited as to marry the woman he has loved for the past 3 years.

Riley’s Mum : You have to tell him.

Riley : *sighs* I know.

Riley’s Mum : How exactly did he propose again?

Riley : Well, first he took me to a romantic place for dinner and we had a blast. Then he took me to amazing places and kept saying he loved me and stuff. And I asked “What’s going on?” and he said “Would you care to be my consort for as long as you live?” then he kneeled down and just…proposed. *sniffs*

Riley’s Mum : Sweetheart, I know it’s tough. But sooner or later, he’s gonna question as to why you don’t want to have a family, have kids.

Riley : *sobs* this is gonna break his heart. i’ll lose him, Mum.

Riley’s Mum : It’s better this way than to think that he’ll lose his life because of you. *hugs Riley*

Jake : Hey hun, I’m…back! Riley?

Riley : *hiding in the shadows* there is something I have to tell you, Jake.

Jake : *strokes her hand* What is it? Are you okay?

Riley : It’s..better if you don’t touch me. *chortles darkly* I don’t think you will touch me ever again, anyway. *sniffs*

Jake : Why..why not? *frowns* are you…are you leaving me?

Riley : Oh God, no! No, I would never leave you. You’re too awesome, and I love you to death. *grins*

Jake : I love you too. Come on, tell me what’s bothering you.

Riley : I want you to know, it’s really hard for me to say this. And you'll probably never want to see me again. *sobs* 4 years ago, before i met you, i was in love with this guy. he was what i thought was my ideal man. but one day we fought and i said to him that i was done with him, and that we were over. the problem was that he didn't think so. the night after we broke up, he came to my house unexpectedly and...raped me. i was scarred for life, i had no one to turn to. after a few months, i met you and i forgot all the things that happened to me in the past. then, you asked me to marry you, but i was torn because i hadn't tell you this thing that i should have told you years before. Jake, i'm HIV positive. i'm sorry i've never told you. i guess i'm afraid that you might leave me. but you can leave now if you want. *sobs harder*

Jake : Oh..oh my god. Riley..*clasps hands on his mouth*

Riley : Jake, i understand if you don't want our marriage to go on. but i just want you to know that i love you. i am who i am because of you. you are every reason, hope and dream i’ve ever had, and no matter what happens to us in the future, every day we are together are the greatest days of my life. i will always be yours. and i'm sorry. *cries*

Jake : *hugs Riley* Riley, why didn't you just..tell me? this thing, you shouldn't have kept it a secret!

Riley : Because if i told you 3 years before, you would have left me. and i was scared of that. i'm so sorry.

Jake : *looks at her* even if that may be true i have to admit, i don't ever want to leave you now. you need a rescuer in your life, and right now, my love for you grows more powerful, not dimmer. i'll take care of you, Riley. i promise.
