40, The New 25

Let's face it, 40 is a big number. It's HUGE. In addition of your salary being upped twice its size since you first started working, your ass will also grow bigger, not to mention the number of wrinkles on your face increasing. There are also some things that might reduce. Hormones for one, will continue to dwindle as you age.

Oh screw this, no matter what age she is, my Auntie Zurina will always be the ditzy chick that she is now. And Auntie Eila, her best friend in the world, who is also her sister-in-law slash unrelated twin, will follow in her footsteps to become the divas of the family. The ONLY divas in the family. I just hope there isn't anymore little girls in our clan who will be as loud, girly and happily-slim-even-though-they're-getting-old as them. Anyway, yesterday marked the 40th year since Auntie Zurina was born, and Auntie Eila being born 3 days before her, 30 years ago. Not only do they share common interests (one of those interests include being ditzy divas), they share the same birth month too.

So, when we got to my grandparents' house, it was pretty much chaotic, with my little cousins screaming, running and fighting for toys. It wasn't a pretty sight. Except for the women of the day, both looking chic and up-to-date, much to my dismay. Heck, it's embarrassing to think older women are dressed better than us youngsters. But I shoved that fact outta my mind a long time ago. If only I had just as much greens as they have, then would I be able to compete with them. But anyway, I thought of something special to give to Auntie Eila as a birthday present.

I planned to draw a portrait of Auntie Eila with her 8-month-old baby and also my cousin Aisyah the day before. But as hours passed, the drawing looked horrendous. It didn't even looked like a drawing, it was a mere DOODLE. It was THAT appalling. So I decided to just draw her minus my adorable little cousin. It turned out pretty well, but I was dumb enough not to take a picture of it first to put on here so I can't show you the end result. It kinda looked like her though. It was a believable portrait. It wasn't amazing. But it was a gift so I hope she's happy with it.

My sister drew a portrait of Auntie Zurina and she did a better job at it, of course. Her artistic skills are way more polished than mine but hey, everyone has their own special thing. And to my sister, it's art. So when we showed our bravura 'masterpieces' to everyone, they weren't surprised at my sister's incredible drawing, but rather, they were extremely shocked that I was the one who drew Auntie Eila's portrait. Auntie Lynn was like, "Oh, so Arifah made this?" she asked, pointing to the portrait. Then I was like, "Nope, I drew this." then she went nuts and said "I never knew you had the talent to draw like this!". LOL. It was hilarious, them not knowing I could draw pretty well too hahaha. My sister was always the one people thought of as artsy. I just stood in her shadows. I guess I don't wanna hog the spotlight ALL the time so I let my sister shine a few times LOL xD the thing is, I'm always thought of as the 'smart one' but only because I have better grades than my sister so yeah. I don't want people to think I wanna compete with her. But it's nice to know that people now know of my artistic capabilities :)
